County Durham Fire Brigade

This Brigade was formed in 1948, and covered much of the area between the Tees and the Tyne. From the county boundry reviews in 1974, it lost several stations to Cleveland and Tyne & Wear fire brigades.

Durham is another Brigade involved in the joint partnership scheme, and so has acquired several Sabres. W987PRG was new to Newton Aycliffe in 2001, it is currently in reserve (Mar 08) it is seen here at Preston Park in 2001.

P878AVK is a Dennis Rapier RWL with E-one bodywork, is another of Newton Aycliffes machines, it was new in 1997, and was seen in 2003 at the National Railway Museum at Shildon in the snow.

Recovery Tenders are fairly rare in Fire Brigades, This Dennis Maxim had been new in 1971 to Darlington.It is now preserved, and is seen at Preston Park in 2006.

Owing to the Monsoon like conditions, this Durham Sabre got bogged down in the mud at the very wet Preston Park 2007. It is seen here recieving a tow from an Army Lorry. Bring on Global warming!
