Working for Stagecoach North East.
9th July 2008

My employment at the Bus Station (and the bus depot) consists of being a Data Collector, that is I check the leaving times of Stagecoach buses when they depart for service. I also help to keep things running smoothly by helping out where possible, such as carrying spare ticket rolls, and a spanner for the odd minor running repair job. From an enthusiasts point of view I suppose I'm in a unique position, in that I can take the odd snap now and again.
The pictures here are taken in a discreet manner of something that is worth photographing, always when there is a break in the proceedings, or when I'm leaving the site, and never whilst on duty. I do not have time to, nor would I ever run negligently around snapping away at anything that moved! Also I will not take a photo on request for anybody, nor will I photograph sensitive incidents. so please do not ask.
These pictures are just a personal record for me of my time here, so that in twenty or thirty years time, I can say 'I worked here'.

21042 (jul 08) is now the last surviving Verde in passenger service. It will be converted to the trainer role at the end of the month. when this happens, it will mean that all of these are trainers within the Stagecoach Group.

This is one of the first views that I got of one of these new Mans, here NJ08CSX lays over in the compound before making it's way back to Hartlepool. These things have a peculiar wine to them, several people have asked if they were Electric vehicles!

NJ08CTK is another of the new Mans. The service 1 can either have a couple of these on it, or sometimes be entirely worked by them, or as happened recently, no Mans allocated at all. It depends on what vehicles are available.

Go North East run the daily X10 M.bro - Newcastle service every hour into the Bus Station. It is operated with these impressive Gemini Eclipse vehicles. There are three of these working the rota, with the fourth vehicle being an ordinary Olympian. Go North East have really got it right with these impressive beasts, they cut a fine sight in the Bus Station. Here one of them is taking it's 5 min layover in the compound.

My favourite Bus of the moment is the ex Glenvale Dart 32182, It's a bit of a bone shaker, but it's distinctive and eccentric, which is why I like it.

The pigeons in the Bus Station are dead hard! This cheeky chappy has a habit of walking right next to the Bus, and is right under it whilst the Bus begins to move off!! It hops out just when it seems too late, and so far, has always made it!

Shockingly one of the Olympians (believed to be 16837) had Teesside spelt incorrectly earlier this year. I think it's been put right now though.
