Other interesting Buses in the North East.
1st November 2008

From time to time other interesting buses have turned up on Teesside. These are presented here to show that despite being a Transit fundamentalist, there were other vehicles on occasion which warranted my interest.

This Routemaster turned up in 1987 for an Art Exhibition called the best of British, in which British icons were displayed. Not surprisingly a Routemaster was included in the Exhibition. It is seen in Middlesbrough. (J.Walker/500 Group)

I think this AEC Regal is LPT828, the now preserved ex Gillett Bros one acquired from OK. I didn't know that Transit appeared to have done the paint job, but here it is amongst the Coaches at Stockton Depot. (J.Walker/500 Group)

The Routemaster was garaged at Middlesbrough Depot during it's stay on Teesside. It is seen here with one of the Re-bodied Atlanteans undergoing stripping down just visible on the left. (photo J.Walker/500 Group)

This PD3 was seen on the approach to Billingham Bank in 1983. I think it is of North West origin. Preston perhaps?

One of the more imposing Buses on Teesside is this former Hong Kong Dennis Dragon (?) owned by Tees Valley. It is normally a school bus, hence the 'bright' yellow livery! It is seen here at the Seaburn rally in 2008, having just disgorged it's passengers after one of the free runs.

A visit to the Depot in 1988, found a couple of interlopers in the form of a soon to be a Go Ahead Northern PSV Trainer KTJ206C, and a former Greater Manchester PTE Atlantean belonging to Galaxy Travel of Redcar.

This is a former British Airways Transfer Coach. It is an Atlantean, and was seen in Hartlepool several years ago.
